Thank you note to friends in LA

August 2009

On the way to Las Vegas conference, made a transit in LA to meet up with our classmates. Although I went through east and west coast a couple of times, I did not get a single chance to meet up friends in LA. I met up with Ko Zaw Win in Chicago two years ago (I wrote in AMIM web site) and Ko Kyine (Maung Maung Kyine and Tin Mar Tun last year in NYC -- that I wrote in AMIM Lite web site). I thought this time is a "must" to visit friends in LA.

For this trip, my greatest appreciation to Mar Lar Oo and her hubby Jeff who hosted our friends gathering and let me stay in their house over a night. Jeff fetched me at the LAX airport and showed me around LA and Hollywood (Thank you so much Jeff. Although the first time we met each other, you treated me like your long-lost friend) while Mar Lar was busy preparing Mote-hin-gar to host our friends at home.

After touring around LA with bad Jet-lag and napping beside Jeff, finally reached Mar Lar's house in Arcadia. Nice one. I have not seen Mar Lar and frineds in LA for more than twenty years since our graduation dinner in 1987. Mar Lar and Jeff have three handsome boys. The first friend who turned up was San San and her husband Ko Robert. Then Mary and her husband Ko Tin Hlaing Oo. We chatted a while whilst all of us were enjoying Mar Lar's mote-hin-gar.

A young girl appeared at the door and tested my memory "hey,..mkt... you remember me?". It was Hla Hla Yee and her husband Ko Brian. Luckily, I could recall her name in time. Or my friend psychiatrist would label me "old man". We have known each other even before our Lake-kone days (IM-1 at Prome road). It's very nice to see my friend !

Then all my dear friends Tin May Than, Ma Nu Khin and Win Aung tuned up. As our sa-ga-wing was so big and loud, non-stop talking and laughing, my friends' husbands all sat aside and watched us. Yes of couse, we talked about all friends all over the world. The night darkened and almost 10pm, finally my dearest friend Thein Htay, wife Christina and son came up. Since the time was running out, we took photos, wished good luck, said good-bye each other.

Thank you all friends in LA. Hope to meet up all of you again. It's a small world.

Sincerely
